About Kimcraigan Lodge

The first thing you notice about Kimcraigan Lodge is the view. Floor-to-ceiling windows look straight out across Loch Ness, and on a clear day, the water stretches out so far it barely seems real. This is a proper lochside retreat, built for two, finished to an exceptionally high standard, and set in one of the most beautiful spots in the Highlands.

The lodge is all on one level, with an open-plan living space that makes clever use of every inch. Natural light floods in through the large windows, and the living area has comfortable seating where you can sit with a coffee and watch the boats drift past on the loch below. The kitchen has a dishwasher, coffee machine, and everything you need to cook a proper meal without having to head into town. There is a small dining area tucked alongside, and the whole space has a calm, considered feel to it, with quality furnishings throughout.

The bedroom has a king-size bed with patio doors that open directly onto the decking, so you can wake up to loch views without even getting out of bed. The en-suite shower room is modern and well finished, with that same attention to detail you notice everywhere else in the lodge.

Outside is where Kimcraigan really shines. The wrap-around deck is the heart of the place, whether you are having breakfast in the morning sun or settling into the hot tub on a cool evening with steam rising off the water and the loch stretched out in front of you. The hot tub setting is hard to beat, with uninterrupted views straight down the loch and not another soul in sight. There is private parking for one car, and the lodge feels secluded even though the hosts, Kim and Andy, are nearby and always happy to help.

When you arrive, you will find a welcome pack with wine and Scottish snacks waiting for you, which sets the tone for the whole stay. Kim and Andy are the sort of hosts who genuinely care about your experience, checking in without being intrusive, and always quick to answer questions.

For getting around, Inverness is about a 30-minute drive north, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and attractions, including Inverness Castle and Eden Court Theatre. There is a bus stop directly across the road from the lodge if you fancy a night out without driving. Closer to home, the village of Drumnadrochit is just 10 minutes away with cafes, gift shops, and a few good pubs. Urquhart Castle is a short drive along the loch and well worth a visit for the views alone. If you enjoy walking, the South Loch Ness Trail is easily accessible, and the ancient forests of Glen Affric are within reach for a day out. Lochend beach is right on the doorstep for a stroll along the water.

This is a lodge built for switching off. No children, no crowds, just the two of you, the loch, and some of the most peaceful scenery in Scotland.
