Inside, the cottage is packed with rustic charm. The living and dining room features classic oak flooring and rustic beams, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The snug sitting area is centred around a traditional wood-burning stove—the ideal spot to curl up on the leather sofas after a day of hiking. The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering, and there is a separate utility room with a washing machine, which is handy for muddy walking gear.
The sleeping arrangements are flexible and comfortable. Upstairs, you will find three bedrooms with beamed ceilings: two king-size rooms with zip-and-link beds that can be made into twins, and a further twin room. The luxurious bathroom is located on the ground floor, featuring a stylish roll-top bath for a long soak and a separate spacious shower.
The outside space is lovely. The lawned garden features a patio with outdoor dining furniture and a barbecue for summer evenings. The highlight is the private hot tub, where you can relax and soak up the peaceful village atmosphere. There is also handy storage for bikes if you plan to explore the local trails.
You are brilliantly located for outdoor adventures. The Manifold Way and Thor’s Cave are nearby for walkers and cyclists, and the village itself is famous for its ford where the Hoo Brook runs across the cobbled street. For a day out, you can visit the magnificent Chatsworth House, explore the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek, or enjoy the thrills of Alton Towers. The owners, Kate and Ruth, are known for their thoughtful touches, often providing a generous welcome hamper to make your stay extra special.
