Castle View
Chocolate cake on the worktop when you arrive, the hot tub checked before you wake up, and Scarborough Castle right there on the skyline from the front of the house.
About Castle View
Zoe and Simon run Castle View with a personal touch you don't often get from a holiday let. Homemade cake and preserves are waiting when you walk in, and the decorations change with the season: carved pumpkins in October, a full Christmas setup in December. The hot tub is checked every morning before you're up, and if anything needs sorting during your stay, Zoe picks up the phone straight away.
The ground floor opens into a spacious kitchen-diner with cream gloss units, oak worktops, and a stainless steel range cooker that handles feeding eight without anyone queueing for hob space. A breakfast bar runs along one side for morning coffee, and a big dining table seats the whole group for the evening. Through to the sitting room, a woodburning stove, leather sofas, and Sky Glass on the TV make for a solid spot to settle after dinner. A starter pack of logs comes included. The conservatory adds a third room when the sun is out.
Upstairs, four bedrooms cover every arrangement: a king-size with yellow and navy touches, a super king that unzips into twins if you need the flexibility, a twin room, and a bunk room for the younger ones. A highchair and travel cot are available. The main bathroom has a P-shaped bath with shower over, and across the landing, a wetroom with underfloor heating takes the edge off first thing. A cloakroom downstairs handles the morning rush.
The back garden is fully enclosed, which counts for a lot when you're travelling with three dogs and small children. There's a proper lawn, decking with outdoor furniture, and a gas BBQ that gets plenty of use in summer. A dog wash station by the door saves the carpet after muddy beach walks. The hot tub sits out here on the decking, and it gets used whatever the weather. The games room has board games and enough space to keep teenagers occupied when the rain rolls in.
Burniston has the coast on its doorstep and the North York Moors behind it. A pub and the village shop are both within 0.7 miles. Scarborough is ten minutes south by car: two beaches, the castle, the harbour, and the Open Air Theatre. Off-road parking takes four cars, with an EV point if you book it ahead. Secure bike storage is available on request. Fibre broadband with WiFi boosters reaches every room. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs from Pickering to Whitby via Goathland, and the steam line through the valleys is reason enough to book a midweek day for it.
