Ysgubor
A stunning, five-bedroom character farmhouse on a 500-acre hill farm in Snowdonia, with a hot tub, games room, and breathtaking mountain views.
If you're looking for a truly special place for a large group getaway, Ysgubor is a fantastic choice. This is a stunning, spacious farmhouse tucked away on a 500-acre working hill farm, right in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. It's a place that's absolutely bursting with character – think exposed stone walls, original oak beams, slate floors, and huge inglenook fireplaces. As many guests have found, it's the perfect cosy and homely base for a large family, a group of friends, and their dogs to explore this incredible landscape.
The house is brilliantly set up for a big group, with plenty of different spaces to spread out and relax. The main sitting room is large and comfortable, with a crackling wood-burning stove for snuggling up in front of a film. There's also a formal dining room, which feels incredibly grand with its own large fireplace and woodburner, making it a wonderful spot for celebratory meals. For a bit of friendly competition, the games room is a huge hit, complete with a pool table and its own woodburner. If you'd rather have a quiet moment, there's even a separate little snug for two.
The kitchen is the heart of the home, with a classic Rangemaster cooker and all the equipment and fridge/freezer space you'll need to cater for your group. One of the five bedrooms, a comfortable double, is also conveniently located on the ground floor, with a shower room right nearby, making it ideal for anyone who prefers to avoid stairs.
Upstairs, you'll find four more lovely bedrooms, each with its own charm, including a romantic king-size four-poster with its own en-suite roll-top bath, another king-size, a double, and a large family room with three single beds. With several bathrooms, there's no need to queue in the mornings.
The outside space is just as impressive as the inside. At the front of the house, you'll find the bubbling hot tub, which has the most incredible panoramic mountain views – it's the perfect place to sit back and soak it all in. To the rear, there's an enclosed garden with a barbecue and dining area, again with a stunning mountain backdrop.
Being on a working farm, you're surrounded by 500 acres of private hills and mountains, including Graig Wen and Gribyn, where the famous Red Bull Hardline mountain bike event is held. For keen walkers and bikers, this is paradise, with endless trails right from your doorstep. It's a wonderfully peaceful, rural spot where you can really get away from it all. The owners, who live nearby, are known for being incredibly friendly and helpful, and they're on hand if you need anything at all.
