If you are looking for a rural escape that feels a bit like a boutique hotel but with the freedom of self-catering, Woodfield Coach House is a brilliant find. Tucked away down a rustic track in the quiet hamlet of Merrymeet, this detached former coach house offers a wonderful sense of peace and seclusion. It is an ideal spot for couples or a small family wanting to explore the coast and moorlands of South East Cornwall.
Inside, the property strikes a perfect balance between luxury and comfort. The spacious sitting and dining room is the heart of the home, featuring a plump sofa, oak furniture, and a cosy wood-burning stove that is perfect for curling up in front of after a day of walking. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped with everything you need to cook up a feast, including a coffee machine for your morning brew.
When it is time to sleep, the bedrooms are truly sumptuous. The master bedroom feels incredibly romantic, with a super-king-size bed dressed in crisp cotton linens and a dramatic gable window that lets the natural light flood in. The second bedroom offers great flexibility, with a zip/link bed that can be set up as a twin or a super-king to suit your group. There is a family bathroom for a long soak and a separate ground-floor shower room, so there is plenty of space for everyone.
The outside space is just as lovely. There are gardens to the front and rear, with a patio area that is perfect for barbecues on warm evenings. The highlight is undoubtedly the private hot tub. Screened from view and looking out across a meadow, it is a fantastic place to relax and watch the sunset. As a delightful bonus mentioned by many guests, you might even get a friendly hello from the alpacas in the neighbouring field!
The location is excellent for exploring. You are perfectly placed to visit the fishing ports of Looe and Polperro, or head to the sandy beaches of Whitsand Bay. For walkers, the vast landscapes of Bodmin Moor are nearby. The owner, Ollie, lives nearby and is known for being incredibly helpful and welcoming, often providing a generous welcome pack to start your holiday in style.
